At Safe Pass Driving School we are passionate about helping people learn to drive.

Whilst passing the practical test is the immediate priority, we firmly believe that it’s our role to help learners transfer the skills and knowledge developed during lessons into real life driving. We want learners to be capable drivers once they have passed their test.

Our car is a DS4 1.6 HDI Prestige.

The car contains lots of specifications that help make it easy to learn in and a safe car to drive.

He-Man dual controls allow the instructor to support the learner with clutch and brake control and also allow the instructor to make emergency interventions if needed.
Driver, Curtain and Lateral airbags deploy in the unlikely event of a collision occurring.
Electronic Parking brake helps the learner move off on a hill without rolling back, which is very common fault when on a driving test.
Automatic lights and windscreen washers remove the need to be distracted by having operate when required.
Cruise control and speed limiter are key components when driving in an Eco friendly manner and the car has both of these fitted.
Reverse parking sensors and reverse camera operate automatically when reverse gear is engaged.

We at Safe Pass Driving School make the process of attempting the driving test predictable and smooth. We familiarise our learners with the situations that they may face during their test. Be it roundabouts, manoeuvres or dual carriageways, we prepare you for everything you may come across. We also help you to prepare for your theory test by enrolling you onto the online revision tool, Driving Test Success Anytime. The driving test lasts for about 40 -45 minutes.

You must first obtain a Provisional License. This can be done through the gov.uk website. https://www.gov.uk/apply-first-provisional-driving-licence.

It costs £34 to apply online. You can pay by MasterCard, Visa, Electron or Delta debit or credit card.

You’ll need:

• an identity document, such as your passport

• addresses where you’ve lived for up to the last 3 years.

You might be asked for additional information, such as your National Insurance number if you know it.

You’ll get a confirmation email from DVLA after you’ve applied. Your licence should arrive within one week if you apply online. It may take longer if DVLA need to make additional checks.

Once you have your provisional license, you can start lessons and work towards passing your test.

Yes. Once you have a provisional license, you can start to drive a car, except on a motorway, as long as you are accompanied by a full license holder who is age 21 and has held their license for 3 years.’ You must also be insured to drive the car as a learner. Once you have passed your test you will be able to drive unaccompanied.

According to research conducted by the RAC, the average learner requires 45hrs of lessons supported by 20hrs of independent practise. However, everybody learns at a different pace. Your instructor will work at a pace that suits you. There is no definitive answer to this question…. How long is a piece of string…?
